Admissions, Retention & Handbook

  • Students can begin the program in August, January or May of each year. Students who begin the Program in May are not eligible for the Summer Institute that year.

  • HLAT 711 (Introduction to Evidence-Based Practice Concepts) and HLAT 775 (Introduction to Evidence-Based Therapeutic Interventions) provide students with essential foundational knowledge needed to succeed in the DAT program. These free courses are offered in an on-demand format following admission to the DAT program. Students are allowed to complete course content at their own pace. These courses serve as pre-requisites to the remainder of the DAT courses.

  • Current ATC Credential (in good standing)
  • Current AT State License (in good standing; if applicable)
  • Currently Practicing (must show evidence of consistent patient care)
  • GPA: minimum 3.0 GPA for MS program OR 3.0 GPA in last 60 credits of Bachelors (if no MS degree)
  • Three to five (3-5) years full-time practice experience (preferred)

  • We do not require GRE scores.

  • No, you do not need a Masters degree. Students with a Bachelors in Athletic Training are eligible to apply for admission. 

  • 2 Letters of Recommendation (one academic, one clinical)
  • Personal Statement
  • Clinical Practice Statement
  • Curriculum Vitae or Resume
  • Transcripts from all post-secondary institutions

  • Yes. This interview can be completed in person or virtually.

  • Yes, we will accept up to 6 credits (10% of degree) of graduate work related to content of the DAT program. Transcripts and syllabi for these courses must be submitted and will be reviewed by the DAT faculty. Transfer credits will not be awarded for required on-demand courses (HLAT 711 and HLAT 775).

  • International Graduate students living outside of the United States may enroll in an online program full-time.
  • International Graduate students living in the United States on a visa must be enrolled in "full-time" study or 9 credits with at least half of those credits live, in-person face-to-face.

  • International applicants must have equivalent Board of Certification (BOC) certification/credential. Students must also submit current TOEFL or IELTS scores. Minimum scores are TOEFL: 90 (internet-based); 233 (computer-based); 577 (paper-based); IELTS: 6.5.

  • Students are required to maintain an overall 3.0 grade point average (GPA) in the DAT Program.  Failure to do so will result in probation from (first instance) or dismissal from (second instance) the DAT Program. 
  • Students are required to earn a grade of C or better in all courses in the DAT Program. Failure to do so will result in dismissal from the DAT Program.

  • The CAATE will no longer be accrediting post-professional programs, including DAT programs. Regardless of accreditation, the É«ÖÐÉ« University DAT Program is committed to the highest quality of post-professional education! Learn more about the .
