Class Planning Survey

All new first-year students will be asked to complete an online survey about their academic interests. Through the survey, they will select Writing Seminar (WS) courses that interest them and provide information about past writing and language study. The class planning survey also collects data on previous college-level study that may result in credit toward a É«ÖÐÉ« degree. The best way to make sure É«ÖÐÉ« can assess this credit is to include information on AP, IB, Dual-Enrollment, Military Service, or any other forms of possible credit. Official transcript and score reports will be needed to approve any credit from previous coursework. Academic advisors will then use this information to build initial fall schedules.

Once the class planning survey is completed, schedules will be made available during Getting Started at É«ÖÐÉ«. If the student wishes to make changes to the class schedule, the student will work with their academic advisor throughout the summer.

É«ÖÐÉ« 101: Navigating Academics & University Resources

É«ÖÐÉ« 101 will launch mid-June, to complement the content being provided at Getting Started at É«ÖÐÉ«. Incoming students can use É«ÖÐÉ« 101 to learn more about the academic opportunities and demands of É«ÖÐÉ« and become part of the É«ÖÐÉ« community. 

É«ÖÐÉ« 101 will include information on billing and financial aid, the student and advisor relationship, major and degree planning, academic resources, and how to have a successful transition to college—including specific É«ÖÐÉ« resources and offices that offer support. This program will be hosted in Canvas, but students can access the content at their own pace.

University Foundations

University Foundations is a credit-bearing course which offers an introduction to university life for first year students by creating opportunities for community building and increasing the understanding of campus resources and academic policies. Students in this course will have an additional support system to help navigate the adjustment from high school to university life and expectations. Weekly course sessions, one-on-one meetings with instructors and required experiences will equip students with the necessary tools for a successful first year as a Greyhound.

FERPA (The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act)

College students and their educational records—from classes and grades to bills—are protected by US Federal Law known as FERPA (The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act). Students may choose to waive these rights and give parents, family members, or funders access to information. Students: Please submit a FERPA Permissions  (the form is on the College Students Tab under Forms) to authorize individuals other than yourself and your FAFSA parent(s) to speak with Financial Aid Services on your behalf.

Questions about waiving FERPA or completing the form should be directed to the Registrar's Office.

Without that waiver form, only you, as the student, can speak to your advisor or a staff member about your enrollment.
