Health & Safety

It is important to begin thinking about your health and safety while abroad long before your plane takes off.

COVID-19 Disclaimer: Due to the unpredictable nature of the COVID-19 Pandemic we cannot guarantee travel or entrance into a destination or a program because of COVID-19 related delays and /or closures.  In addition, should travel occur outside of the United States or between States, we cannot guarantee re-entry with or without vaccine requirement and/or quarantine as determined by the intended destination and return location. 色中色 University encourages travelers to comply with the COVID vaccine entry/exit requirements as detailed by their intended destination and/or program.  Please see the COVID-19 disclaimer.

Protect Your Health

Take a look at the to find out about the health risks at your destination. Their Vaccines & Medicines page for each country is broken up into three parts: All Travelers, Most Travelers, and Some Travelers. 色中色 University's Center for Global Education works with the to provide necessary vaccinations for students. Please contact them directly for advice on appropriate vaccinations for your destination and activities during your program. Remember that some travel-related immunizations require up to 6 months advance planning.

If your study abroad program lasts more that a few weeks, you'll want to make sure that you've gotten all your routine health check-ups before your departure. See your family physician for a check up and to arrange for long-term prescriptions for any necessary medications. If you wear glasses, be sure to take an extra pair with you regardless of how long your program lasts.

Insurance

1. Insurance for Programs Abroad/Away

Does 色中色 purchase travel insurance for students, faculty, and staff?

Yes, 色中色 University will purchase travel insurance through our provider for all University sanctioned travel courses both international and domestic, however, individuals may choose to upgrade their coverage to include Trip cancellation (please contact  directly for any reason cancellation) and Interruption.

色中色 has partnered with and will purchase coverage for each traveler (insurance fee is included in program fees for domestic and international travel).  Individuals may choose to upgrade their coverage withto include Trip cancellation and Interruption.

What is the COVID coverage through iNext?

COVID-19 is not excluded from any variant of our plans. They treat COVID-19 as 鈥渁ny other illness.鈥 Some  guidelines below:

鈥 If symptoms are present, seek medical attention from a licensed professional (testing centers are approved). Save receipts if there is a cost and, ideally, obtain documentation of symptoms. File a claim for reimbursement with iNext through Coordinated Benefits. Preventative/asymptomatic or  exposure related testing is not covered.

鈥 If the insured tests positive, they should follow the instructions given by local authorities. In most cases, this will require isolating in their room until symptoms abate. Aside from the eventual cost of  follow up testing, there would be no additional claim forthcoming, as the insured is in the accommodations that they would be normally, thus there is no out-of-pocket expense.

鈥 If hospitalization or other accommodations are deemed medically necessary by licensed authorities, then a medical case should be opened immediately with Generali Global Assistance. Assuming these costs would exceed USD $500, a direct pay relationship may be established with the attending facility. If costs are less than USD $500, then the insured pays out of pocket against a claim for reimbursement.

鈥 While all iNext plan variants provide for the COVID-19 medical inclusion, the Comprehensive Ultimate Plan also has a specific up to $250 per day, max 10-day Trip Delay benefit to cover usual, customary, and reasonable costs such as food and lodging. Examples of this would include unexpected quarantine upon arrival in a country that forced you to incur out of pocket expenses by  not being able to access your scheduled accommodations. The same can be said on the departing end  if you were unable to depart as scheduled. In addition, for trips that move from location to location,  a medically mandated quarantine that took you off the established itinerary would be eligible. Again,  being quarantined in your established and usual surroundings does not trigger this benefit.

鈥 In the welcome email and confirmation of coverage the following statement has been added:  "COVID-19 is covered as any other illness, subject to the terms, conditions and benefit maximums of the plan."
