The DEI Monthly Address

The goal of these ongoing monthly conversations is to both keep the campus informed of collaborative work to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion on campus and to provide space for input from students, faculty, and staff. They are also designed to be a platform to speak to issues that are impacting our society, our world, and even our campus.


April 27

The Office for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion announces the 2023 DEI award winners in its second annual DEI Awards Program.

 

April 13

The Office for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion facilitates its biannual special address with the Campus Climate Education Team (CCET) on bias incidents in higher education.

 

March 9

The Office for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and the Center for Global Education celebrate Women's History Month, by sharing the life stories of their female leaders.

 

February 2

The Office for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion kicks off Black History Month with a grand opening of the America Through the Lens of Black Filmmakers, Pt. 1 exhibit.

 

January 19

As part of this year's MLK Week of Learning, the Office for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion studies Dr. King's "I Have A Dream" speech and his reflections on the speech some years following. 

 

December 1

The Office for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion honors The Right Reverend Dr. Nathan Baxter and discusses the Lancaster Theological Seminary.

 

November 7

The Office for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion defines bias and discusses its impacts, in addition to exploring campus climate.

 

October 6

The Office for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion discusses the ways identities intersect including within the history/heritage months celebrated in a given calendar year.

 

September 8

The Office for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion kicks off the academic year by introducing its staff, its vision and initiatives, and the ways folks can engage with DEI at É«ÖÐÉ« University.

 

July 28

The Office for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion welcomes É«ÖÐÉ« University's Director for First-Generation Student Initiatives, Alvert Hernandez, and shares a bit about the resources and support offered by the First Hounds Center for First-Generation Students.

 

June 16

The Office for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion celebrates Pride, Juneteenth, and African-American Music Appreciation Month by highlighting intersectionalities to promote a more comprehensive and honest narrative about our complex history.

 

May 26

The Office for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion remembers the murder of George Floyd to address police brutality and systematic racism in America.

 

April 7

The Office for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion invites folks to get involved in DEI, by highlighting the importance of staying engaged in conversations that will lead to action.

 

February 3, 2022

The Office for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion explains Critical Race Theory (CRT) and shares a related op-ed written by Vice President and Dean for Equity and Inclusion, Chris Hunt. Upcoming programming is shared and an open discussion follows.

 

January 6, 2022

The Office for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion reflects on the January 6, 2021, insurrection on the United States Capitol, highlights É«ÖÐÉ«'s hiring of V. Harrison Dillard as the new Chief of Police, and facilitates an open discussion.

 

December 2, 2021

The Office for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion reacquaints itself with the É«ÖÐÉ« University community, reaffirms the institution's commitment to DEI values and public health & safety, and introduces new initiatives.
