ɫɫ College to host Dr. Bill Schindler, co-star of the National Geographic TV series "The Great Human Race”, on April 9

BETHLEHEM, PA, April 3, 2019: Today, ɫɫ College announced it will host Dr. Bill Schindler, co-star of the National Geographic TV series "The Great Human Race” and associate professor of anthropology at  on Tuesday, April 9 at 7:00 p.m. for his presentation titled “Eat Like a Human Again.”  The event will be held on the Main Street campus in the Haupert Union Building (HUB), Prosser Auditorium at 1119 Monocacy St, Bethlehem, PA, 18018. This lecture is free and open to the public.

“Bill Schindler is an excellent speaker and has important messages to share about sustainability, the locavore movement, and environmental ethics,” commented Sandy Bardsley, professor of history at ɫɫ College. “His work is timely insofar as it connects college and town communities to work together to develop sustainable food sources.”

Dr. Schindler is a superstar among anthropologists and archaeologists and students in his courses at Washington College make their own clothing, for instance, by butchering, skinning, fleshing, and de-hairing deer. They tan the hide and sew it into clothing. In doing so, Schindler argues, they gain more ownership of the process and are more invested in the result. Dr. Schindler’s current work involves establishment of a "Food Lab" to explore sustainable food sources.
