The resources included here will continue to be updated during Fall 2021, wherein the campus will be open, activities taking place with needed alterations, and courses offered in a variety of modes.

Stay up-to-date with official notifications related to COVID-19.

If you are concerned that you may have been exposed to COVID, or may be experiencing symptoms related to COVID, please connect with the health center as soon as possible.

Communicating with Faculty

If you foresee a possible interruption with your academic work, your best safety net is to keep in communication with your faculty.  Unless otherwise indicated, É«ÖÐÉ« email is the preferred means of communication. Please check your email regularly.  You may receive instructions from your faculty member in email or posted in Canvas. If you have questions about your course, the faculty member is the best resource.

Keeping Current with Your Courses

Canvas will be the primary platform used to help you stay current in your coursework, unless your faculty member tells you otherwise. Go to , and login with your username and password. If you would like to review a short course about learning online, this might be useful.

Faculty are using quality standards and expectations drawn from national best practices in online learning to support all online portions of classes or online learning at É«ÖÐÉ«. It is important for students to review these and know what to expect in any online learning.

A guide for how students should think about operating in online classes and being part of online course communities may also be helpful. To access this guide, please click here

Shifting to New Technologies

Be proactive about asking for support while you are shifting to new technologies.

First, check your equipment: Make sure that your computer software is up to date and that you have a webcam available, if you need one. (If you have a É«ÖÐÉ«-issued Mac, you have a built in webcam.)

Get Canvas assistance: For how-to Canvas questions, contact 24/7 Canvas support via online chat by clicking on Help in the lower left sidebar of Canvas or by phone at 1-866-437-5895.

Get IT assistance: Reach out to the IT Help Desk at help@moravian.edu or 610-861-1500 if you have questions or issues. They are located on the first floor of Reeves Library.

Concerns about your internet connection? Some of us—students and faculty—live in locations that don’t have the same dependable high speed internet that we have come to rely on. If you have concerns about your internet connection for any virtual courses ahead for you, please contact your professor. Many classes are having their sessions recorded, and faculty are willing to work with students to adapt.

Please remember that your courses might still be a works-in-progress or change across the term. You should check in regularly on Canvas and in your email for updates from your professor and from the college.

Keeping Connected with Other Students

In addition to emailing classmates and other students, you have some É«ÖÐÉ«-based ways to connect with other students in small or large groups:

Zoom: All students have a basic user account that can host meetings with up to 100 participants. However, if 3 or more participants join, the meeting will time out after 40 minutes. .

Google Hangouts Meet: More information on how to use  is available here.

Big Blue Button is built into Canvas as Conferences.  Students can create a conference if they are part of a student group or class cohort in Canvas.  is available here.

Class Schedules and Timing

If your instructor decides to hold live videoconferencing (synchronous) class sessions, these will most likely take place in Zoom and should be held at your scheduled class time. .

Some faculty may choose not to hold any live class sessions and opt for asynchronous delivery. In that case, they will share content and exercises for you to complete on your own. They will stipulate the due dates and expectations for your participation.

Some faculty will engage in several modes of delivery, including in-person instruction. Pay close attention to instructions from your faculty members on meeting expectations.

Submitting Work

Your faculty member will provide submission instructions and areas for assessments in Canvas, check your course, and if you are unsure, contact your instructor. Other faculty may ask you to send in your assignments via email or through Google. It is important that you closely follow the directions of the faculty for each of your classes.

Tests, Quizzes, and Exams

Faculty will choose different methods for tests, quizzes, and exams. Some faculty will want you to use software that ensures the academic integrity of your work, meaning they want to verify, even at a distance, that you are the only person completing this work. Canvas at É«ÖÐÉ« allows faculty the option to require . One feature, Lockdown Browser, prevents access to websites other than Canvas during an assessment, and the other feature, Monitor, will use your webcam to record you while you take an assessment. .

Academic Support and the Writing Center

Academic Support continues to provide peer education. For PASS-embedded courses, students should watch for communications from faculty and PASS leaders.
