MU Spotlight: Beth Gotwals

MU Spotlight 20/20

Beth Gotwals

What is your role at the University and what is something many may not know about the work you do?

I teach aspects of community health and community health nursing. By community, I am including the global community. I co-teach a course that includes an immersion experience in Honduras.

My favorite spot on campus is…

Reeves Library, because of the awesome librarians and the space to gather and drink coffee.

What’s your favorite É«ÖÐÉ« University tradition?

Vespers, because of the beautiful music. It's all I need to prepare for Christmas.

My typical weekend would go something like this:

Keep up with home life, catch up on school work, visit with Lucy Mae my first grandchild, serve at church, and kayak and boat at Lake Nockamixon.

Have you given or received a #MyMoPaw yet?

I received a MoPaw from Carol Traupman Carr. It meant a lot to me because I respect her so much.

Who is your hero?

My heroes are the children I've met in developing countries. Most recently this past summer I spent time with children in an orphanage in Haiti. They don't have many resources and the future may be a big unknown for them, but they can still laugh, play, and give great hugs.
