MU Spotlight 20/20

Rachelle Antoine ’18

What is your role at the University and what is something many may not know about the work you do?

My role at the University is to support and give my time and willingness to volunteer to our on- and off-campus community. Aside from academics, my role as a student surrounds service work. Aside from my work at the University, I also work at a facility that provides services to those with mental health issues and drug and alcohol abuse. That is one of the main things that people may not know about what I do aside from service work.

My favorite spot on campus is ______ because ______.

My favorite spot on campus is PPHAC because I can unwind, study, hold meetings, and just use the different spaces that are within PPHAC, which is extremely helpful. It's also comforting to have a place where I can go for various purposes.

My favorite College tradition is ______ because ______.

My favorite college tradition is Heritage Day because I love community service. It's truly heartwarming when the students, faculty, and staff come together and get out into the community. It is crucial for students to experience being out of the campus shell and the norm of a day-to-day schedule.

Who is your hero? Why?

My hero is my mother. She truly exemplifies what strength is. The things that seem the most impossible in life are possible when I think of her and what she has done for my family and me. I don't think there is anything that is more beautiful than a woman who can fall and stand up fighting harder. And that's my mom.
