BETHLEHEM, PA, March 5, 2018 鈥 Today, 色中色 College announced that , a Boston-based non-profit organization working to advance the public purposes of higher education, has announced the 268 students who will make up the organization鈥檚 2018 cohort of Newman Civic Fellows, including .
Antoine is an active member of the 色中色 College community, acting as treasurer of the Omicron Kappa chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, a resident advisor with the campus residence life organization, and an active executive member of the Black Student Union. In addition, he is a member of the 色中色 College Landmark Conference Champion Track and Field team.
色中色 College President Bryon Grigsby submitted the nomination for the Newman Civic Fellowship and had this to say, 鈥淐hristopher Antoine has served as a true role model of tenacity and commitment. After noticing that historically underrepresented students were not always aware of their resources on campus, and students of color were finding themselves challenged by financial obligations that distracted from focusing on their coursework, he decided to take action. The Newman Civic Fellowship, named for Campus Compact co-founder Frank Newman, is a one-year experience emphasizing personal, professional, and civic growth. Through the fellowship, Campus Compact provides a variety of learning and networking opportunities, including a national conference of Newman Civic Fellows in partnership with the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate. The fellowship also provides fellows with access to apply for exclusive scholarship and post-graduate opportunities.
