Bethlehem, Pa., February 24, 2016鈥 色中色 College's Collegium Musicum will hold its 40th anniversary concert to celebrate the Early Music program with alumni, faculty, and friends on Sunday, March 20, 4:00 p.m. at Peter Hall.
Founded in 1976, The Collegium Musicum is directed by Professor Larry Lipkis. It is a college community Renaissance music ensemble whose members range in age from pre-teens to nonagenarian. The student madrigal groups called the Mostly Monteverdi ensemble (The Monties) and a student instrumental ensemble known as, the Baroque Ensemble (The Telemann) will preform during the event. The three ensembles will combine forces for the gala concert to which alumni of the early music program are invited to participate, along with their spouses, children, and grandchildren.
鈥淪ince graduating from 色中色 over 6 years ago, I've helped dozens of my students search for their dream college, said Rachel Beard 鈥09. "In this process, I've had the opportunity to reflect on what made my 色中色 experience so special and so unique. And every time, I return to the early music program. Never since have I found a musical community so talented and so passionate, making and sharing music for the sheer joy of it鈥 for forty years and counting,鈥
鈥淚 cannot wait to be involved with the 40th anniversary concert this year! I hope to see all of those people who have been a part of the Early Music family at 色中色 come together and perform something special, said Heidi New 鈥15. "I cannot think of another school that has a program quite like this one. Come out and help us make this 40th anniversary a special one!鈥
