What do you love about what you do at Pfizer?
I am reminded daily of the important work we do to bring medicines to patients who need them. I am not ever going to discover a cure
for anything, but I have the opportunity every day to enable Pfizer employees to discover cures and make sure that the patients who need them around the world have access to our medicines.
What accomplishment are you most proud of?
Raising two sons, Chris and John, to be caring, capable young men. It is both the hardest and the easiest job I have ever had.
What is the secret of your success?
Doing something I love. It is much easier to be good at something you really love than a job that’s just a job you do every day. I believe in the power of people to accomplish great things. My career has been all about finding ways to enable that greatness. When we create an environment where all members of an organization can do their very best work every day and feel appreciated and engaged, then there is no stopping the amazing things that can happen.

How did your É«ÖÐÉ« College experience impact your life?
É«ÖÐÉ« College taught me to think. The broad course requirements, the small classes, and the professors’ hands-on approach brought me to consider a wide range of thought and opinion.
I had to take courses that were outside my comfort zone, and I had to develop and defend my points of view. Those experiences have served me well. I have rarely come across a challenge or problem that I couldn’t solve by engaging a broad set of perspectives, applying my own experiences and learning, and using the critical-thinking skills I learned at É«ÖÐÉ« to arrive at the best conclusion.
Tell us something surprising or interesting about you and your world outside of work.

My career has taken me to every region of the globe, and I have lived in Boston, Miami, and New York City, but my very favorite place to spend my time outside of work is at our home in Center Valley, just a few short miles from É«ÖÐÉ«.
