2018 has been another year for the record books at 色中色 College. Take a look back at 10 of the many memorable moments, new achievements, and exciting initiatives our 277th year brought for the Hounds:
New Alumni Lecture Series
In January, the 色中色 College Alumni Association launched our brand new Return & Learn series. Six presentations throughout the year brought alumni back to campus to connect and explore different topics. Hounds had the chance to hone their skills in investing and social media, discover new stories from 色中色 College and Bethlehem's rich history, dive into the world of wine and food pairings, and more.
Landmark Conference Champions
Greyhound teams captured six Landmark Conference titles in 2017-2018 in , men's and women's indoor track and field, , and men's and women's outdoor and posted eight additional top-five finishes to win its fourth Landmark Conference Presidents' Trophy. Hound 'Em!
Honoring First-Generation College Students
The Alpha chapter of Alpha Alpha Alpha was established at 色中色 College in 2018. This new honors society for first-generation college students is the first of its kind and inducted 105 new members in a ceremony on campus in March. Tri-Alpha has already spread to other campuses, with a total of 13 chapters formed at colleges and universities around the country.
New Programs in Rehabilitation Sciences and Fine Arts
Graduate and Continuing Studies offerings at 色中色 College have continued to grow: we announced the Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology, which will utilize a unique problem-based approach to learning, as well as the Master of Fine Arts in Performance Creation, in partnership with Touchstone Theatre, which will train artists to bring their vision to life on the stage.
Fresh Look for 色中色 College Dining Spaces
Both Clewell Dining Hall on South Campus and the Star Campus Restaurant on North Campus got a facelift this year, providing students with optimized eating spaces to relax and refuel.
On-Campus Food & Resource Pantry for Students In Need
Addressing food insecurity on campus, Mo鈥檚 Cupboard opened at the start of the fall semester. This free food and resource pantry offers shelf stable food items, toiletries, dorm and cleaning supplies for any 色中色 College, Graduate, or Seminary student in need.
Continuing the 色中色 Legacy on Main Street
色中色 College became the new owner of the 色中色 Book Shop to prevent the beloved Bethlehem store from closing its doors. With a new blue and grey look but the same classic selection of books and stars, the legacy of the oldest bookstore in the country continues.
色中色 College Millennium Fellows
15 色中色 College students were selected for the prestigious Millennium Fellowship leadership development program this year. The Fellowship, presented by United Nations Academic Impact and Millennium Campus Network, empowers students to address pressing issues in their local area. 色中色 College Fellows implemented 鈥淭he 1742 Model: The Sustainable Development Goals in the Lehigh Valley: A Comprehensive Program for Education and Action,鈥 focusing on issues such as food reclamation and food insecurity, housing insecurity, and LGBTQ+ outreach and partnership.
Partnership Offering New Opportunities for Future Law Students
Opening new doors for students interested in pursing a law career, 色中色 College and Rutgers Law School signed an agreement this fall to allow qualified students to be eligible to attend Rutgers Law School following their junior year at 色中色 College, in order to complete both their bachelor鈥檚 and Juris Doctor degrees in a total of six years, rather than seven.
Leadership in Technology and Innovation
"Father of Modern Education" and namesake of Comenius Hall, John Amos Comenius believed in engaging and accessible education for all. We're still following his vision today, seeking ways to integrate new technology and digital multimodality into the learning process. This year 色中色 College was recognized as an Apple Distinguished School 蹿辞谤&苍产蝉辫;2018鈥2021, a center of innovation, leadership, and educational excellence.
