Bethlehem, Pa., January 16, 2015鈥斏猩 College will host a breakfast program for fifth graders from William Penn Elementary School to celebrate the life of Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday, January 19 at 9:00 a.m. in the Marketplace, Haupert Union Building.
The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Breakfast 鈥淐elebrating the Dream,鈥 program will include a talk by The Rev. Gregory J. Edwards, Senior Pastor of the Resurrected Life Community Church in Allentown, Pa. He is also the chief executive Officer of the Resurrected Community Development Corporation.
鈥淭he MLK breakfast program will include presentations by twenty of the 5th graders who will pair up and share information about Dr. King and his life/legacy to their principal, teachers, and members of our faculty and staff,鈥 said Christopher Hunt, associate dean of students, and director of intercultural advancement & global inclusion at 色中色 College. "You can't have too many opportunities to hear about a man who did so much for justice and equality. We remember Dr. King and all the people who worked with him to help us get to where we are today."
Rev. Edwards is a native of the state of New Jersey and a graduate of Geneva College, the University of Delaware Graduate School in Urban Affairs and Public Policy, and Drew University. He has earned the Bachelor of Science degree in Urban Ministry, certification in Community Economic Development, a Master of Divinity degree, and is currently completing his Doctorate in Ministry degree at the New Brunswick Theological Seminary in the area of Prisons, Public Policy and Transformative Justice. William Penn Elementary School, located at 1002 Main Street in Bethlehem, is part of the Bethlehem Area School District. The school partners with 色中色 College in a variety of ways throughout the year.
