Husic, Binford, and Brockley were part of a group that attended the first COP meeting held in Copenhagen in 2009 when Brockley was a student. The College has sent a delegation of faculty, students, and alumni each year since the annual global conference began in 2009, when É«ÖÐÉ« was one of only six private liberal arts institutions to be selected to serve as a "civil society observer" from the United States.

Last year, Husic, Binford, and Brockley traveled to Copenhagen, Denmark and were joined by the student observers representing the American Chemical Society led by two faculty, Keith Peterman and Greg Foy, from York College. The students themselves blogged throughout the entire event, and so did É«ÖÐÉ«'s team, reporting the information learned while in attendance at this conference.

Participation in UNFCCC is restricted to parties of the conference, observer states, admitted observer organizations, and accredited press/media. The sessions are not open to the public. The meeting is the twentieth U.N. Conference of the Parties (COP 20) on climate change.
