In order to enroll, your school must already be participating in Dual Enrollment with 色中色 University. If your school is not currently participating in the program, talk to your counselor or feel free to forward their contact information to admission@moravian.edu and we will reach out! The following schools are currently participating with us:

  • Bethlehem Catholic High School (Bethlehem, PA)
  • Salisbury Township High School (Allentown, PA)
  • Northwestern Lehigh High School (New Tripoli, PA)
  • Pleasant Valley High School (Broadheadsville, PA)

Registration and Cost

Students must complete the for every semester they wish to participate in the program. You should consult your instructors for further information about a course's registration requirements, which includes understanding the length of time the course will run during any academic year.

Courses are $100 per credit, meaning that a 4-credit course costs $400. 色中色 University operates on a unit system, where most courses are one course unit (equal to 4 credits). You will need to submit your payment via check or money order after your registration has been approved. Checks or money orders must be made out to 色中色 University.

You may 鈥渢est drive鈥 a dual enrollment course by enrolling in the high school course for four weeks before finalizing your registration for the dual enrollment credit.  At the start of the fourth week of instruction, registration is closed for high school students. However, you may complete the high school course and earn credit towards your high school diploma without also earning dual enrollment credit.

At present, there is no limit to the number of dual enrollment courses 色中色 University will allow for each student. This policy is subject to change.

Course withdrawal

You may withdraw from the course and receive a refund of your tuition any time prior to the end of the fifth week of instruction at the high school, which includes the 鈥渢est drive鈥 period, only if you notify both your high school teacher and 色中色鈥檚 Office of Admission (admission@moravian.edu) in writing by the withdrawal deadline. At the start of the sixth week of instruction, there is no opportunity to withdraw and no refund.

Earning College Credit

Once registered, you must earn a grade of C (2.0 grade point average) or better in your Dual Enrollment courses in order to earn the credit through 色中色 University; this is also the grade which makes the course easily transferable to other institutions. Please note that low grades will not result in the refund of tuition and grades cannot be removed from a transcript.

Attending 色中色 University

If you choose to attend 色中色 University for your undergraduate education, you will automatically receive academic credit toward your undergraduate degree for your dual enrollment courses, as long as you received a grade of "C" or better. The grade earned in the dual enrollment course counts in your 色中色 University undergraduate GPA. You should inform your academic advisors of these credits before you register as a first-year students. If you have decided on a major, it is recommended to also check with the appropriate department chairperson.

Transferring Credits to Other Colleges and Universities

All accepting institutions require the receipt of an official 色中色 University transcript and most colleges and universities require a grade of "C" or better in order to count the credit toward your degree. If you plan to attend another college or university, you should contact their admissions or registrar's office in order to determine their transfer credit policy. 色中色 University cannot guarantee that every course will be accepted by every institution.

What is the difference between AP and dual enrollment?

Many AP courses are also offered for dual enrollment credit. In both cases, the course is taught by a qualified teacher in the high school, so the student has the chance to earn college credit through courses they are already taking in their high school curriculum, without having to travel to a college campus.  But with AP, whether or not the student earns credit comes down to the student鈥檚 ability to score sufficiently high enough on a standardized test, and even then, we see that many colleges use the AP results for placement, not always for credit.

With dual enrollment, the credit on the transcript is guaranteed if the student earns at least a grade of C or better, regardless of the outcome of the AP test. It is still true that whether or not the course transfers is at the discretion of the college or university where the student will ultimately enroll, but dual enrollment is widely accepted by many schools across the country as transfer credits.

In addition, dual enrollment can be attached to advanced high school courses and honors courses, and isn鈥檛 restricted solely to AP courses.  Therefore, it provides a wider range of options for more students in the high school than AP alone does.
